Katie was named in honor of Kathryn Kelly, Jim's favorite aunt (Grandma Laura's sister).
Katie graduated from Albion College in 1988 and moved to New York right afterward where she worked for the fledgling Fox Network and a daytime television magazine before being asked to help start Soap Opera Weekly, where she worked for sixteen years. She lives in Croton-on-Hudson with her family.
"Most of the time I am pretty reserved, but I do love a good practical joke. My husband said he fell in love with me when I involved him in the plannng of a major April Fool's Day joke on a friend. It involved "renting" a baby, cross-dressing and staging a trip out of town."
